Christian Dior is launching a new fragrance in La Collection Privée, Grand Bal. “Grand Bal is an echo of Christian Dior’s great ball gowns, whose full skirts and beauty evoked the petals of a flower in full bloom,” François Demachy, Dior in-house perfumer. It is a classical jasmine blend that includes notes of bergamot, jasmine, Tunisian orange blossom, ylang ylang, New Caledonia sandalwood, and musk. Available from Dior boutiques.

Suzanna: A must-try. I wonder if my impression of it from the notes and the retro-Dior ball gown description will match up.
I would like a mainstream house (even as a boutique scent) to create a full-throated, unapologetic white floral, IRFA regulations notwithstanding. May 8, 2012 at 12:21am
Victoria: For some reason I imagine something like J’Adore Le Jasmin, which I liked.
That sounds fantastic, although knowing that the mainstream houses are the first ones in line to apply all IFRA guidelines, I doubt we would see it.
Do you wear Fracas? That sounds exactly like your wish! May 8, 2012 at 9:11am
yomi: The notes listed are very much classic notes- wonder how this stand out from other classic fragrances? May 8, 2012 at 9:14am
Victoria: I was wondering that too. I love jasmine, so I eagerly welcome any new additions, but at the same time I crave for something different from what was done before. May 8, 2012 at 9:16am
yomi: The bottle is simple yet elegant May 8, 2012 at 9:16am
Victoria: I like the packaging very much–simple, clean, elegant. May 9, 2012 at 9:59am
yomi: Yes , victoria . It is very simple and elegant. Do you have any ideas of a website that has good mist spray bottles? I make perfumes in ibadan nigeria. May 9, 2012 at 10:04am
Victoria: I’m sorry, I don’t know. I buy small spray bottles from Sephora, but obviously it wouldn’t work for you. May 9, 2012 at 12:11pm
yomi: Thank you , V. Will try and search online. May 9, 2012 at 2:52pm
Undina: I want to try this one. Not that I need a jasmine perfume but I like the line. May 8, 2012 at 7:06pm
Victoria: I like the line too, even though I don’t really have many that I wear on regular basis. I would love New Look 1947 in a parfum form. May 9, 2012 at 9:54am
Gogol: I tried this at the local Dior boutique. Lovely, heady, and gone in 30 minutes. A Cinderella tale, I’d say. May 12, 2012 at 10:22am
Victoria: How disappointing! It’s frustrating when your perfume hardly lasts on skin. May 12, 2012 at 3:49pm
Rebecca: You can get small spray bottles (sample size mainly) from Perfumed Court website.
Also, received a sample of Dior Grand Bal from “Surrender to Chance” website. I like it. Quite nice. June 9, 2012 at 5:16pm
