Bois de Jasmin Subscription and Newsletter

Bois de Jasmin now has a monthly newsletter.  Please take a look at the first June 2018 issue. It will be a complement to the site and will include the perfumes I’m testing, books I’m reading, places I’m visiting and much more. I will also use it to update you on my perfumery classes, share tips for improving your sense of smell and give you recommendations. I envision it as a collage of inspiration, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

If you haven’t done so already, please subscribe to our mailing list. Or if you’re a current subscriber and would like the newsletter, when you enter your email address into the box below, you’ll have a chance to update your preferences.

Once you subscribe, check your inbox and be sure to confirm your email address. If you’ve subscribed, but you don’t receive any emails from me, please check your spam filter and add my email address to your contact list.

      • Maria-Anna: It was delightful! I was particularly inspired by your mention of Jun’ichiro Tanizaki, whose In Praise of Shadows I have been hoping to read, and the section on cooking with flowers. I think it’s a wonderful way to appreciate the bounty of nature, as cheesy as that sounds. I will be keeping my eyes open! June 21, 2018 at 6:25am Reply

        • Victoria: Thank you very much! Japanese writers are among my top favorites, from Tanizaki, Kawabata and Akutagawa to Murasaki Shikibu and Sei Shonagon. I like their attention to details and also probing of human nature. The novel I mentioned in my newsletter is dark and obsessive, but it has such flashes of humor and wit that it made me want to re-read more of Tanizaki. June 21, 2018 at 6:41am Reply

          • Maria-Anna: I read The Pillow Book on your recommendation and loved it! The Tanizaki you mention seems wonderful – dark and obsessive sounds very appealing to me. There was also a beautiful edition of The Tale of Genji, all satin leaves and line drawings, that I stalked at the local bookshop a little while ago. It’s gone now, but on my mind. • Aurora: Dear Victoria: This now your second newsletter, and I just wanted to say that I am enjoying them very much. I think it allows you to come back to a subject like what you did with the edible flowers (I had no idea so many flowers were) or Hermes new perfumes and add to it.

The poem lines at the beginning set the mood for a wonderful read and it’s so interesting to have links to related articles you’ve written. I enjoy the intimate touch, what you read, descripitons of the writers, vignettes of life in Poltava with the rythms of nature. I had forgotten about it, but tomorrow I’ll put aside some time for a strawberry mask 🙂 July 21, 2018 at 1:15pm Reply
